Bochum Graufleckentest

The Ruhr University in Bochum, Germany, conducted tests by comparing RVS-treated surfaces with untreated ones.

Main test results:

  • The damage-causing load resistance improved by eight levels, from level 2 to level 10

  • Deformation was reduced by 37% (from 14.5 µm to 9.2 µm ≈ 571 microinches to 362 microinches)

  • The gray area of the surface decreased by 8.3% (from 60% to 55%)

  • Weight loss was reduced by 30% (from 54 mg to 38 mg ≈ 0.83 grains to 0.59 grains)

  • Surface roughness was reduced by 17%
